Scams Awareness Information Session at Noosaville Library

Emily with the Seniors Enquiry Line will be hosting an information session on Scams Awareness at Noosaville Library.

In 2024, Australians reported losing $2.03 billion to scammers with those over 65 losing more money than other age groups. AI has made online scamming easier by helping criminals create highly convincing fake messages, voices, and identities that are much harder for people to recognise as fraud.

In this valuable Scam Awareness info session, you can learn how scammers convince us, how to investigate whether something is a scam or not and strategies to protect yourself. Learning about scams can seem daunting but these sessions aim to share information in a positive, engaging way. Attendees will receive handouts and can speak with the presenter one-on-one after the presentation.
