Youth and Family Support Service – Brisbane
Youth and Family Support Service (YFSS) is an extended hours support service for ‘at risk’ young people (aged 6 to 17 years) and their families. The service is free of charge and operates from 10am to 12 midnight, seven days a week, including public holidays. YFSS has a particular focus on servicing young people and families living in Brisbane. The aim of YFSS is to provide early intervention and diversion services to young people at risk and to their families. The objectives of the YFSS are to: * Assist families and young people to respond to conflict or crisis. * Ensure young people at risk of harm have an appropriate service response. * Divert young people at risk of offending from further involvement in the statutory youth justice system. Caseworkers can help young people and families identify issues of concern, recognise their own skills and resources and empower them to resolve their problems and conflicts. Caseworkers also provide support to young people and families by meeting face to face in their homes or other appropriate community settings and over the telephone when required. The YFSS is a short term service.
