Silky Oaks Childrens Haven
Silky Oaks is a Christian based community organisation which provides a range of services to children and families. The Child Youth and Family Care Program comprises: * Alternative Family Care Program provides accommodation for up to six children/young people, from age 10 to 18 years. It also runs a Structured Transitional Education Program, which is designed to equip 15 – 18 year olds with a range of skills they will need to enable them to live independently in the community. All children/young people cared for in the Residential Homes are referred to Silky Oaks by the Department of Families, and are usually seen as having ‘high need’. Silky Oaks’ goal is to provide care for these children/young people who live apart from their families and to focus on maintaining family relationships. Where possible, the children/young people return home to their families, or alternatively, move to other out of home care or on to independence. * Family Care and Support, which provides within a family focus, supported crisis accommodation and a range of practical and therapeutic services to assist families to integrate in the community with greater independence and personal resources. * The Family Centre provides counselling/therapy services for parents and children who have child protection needs, in the Bayside and adjacent areas. The Child Care Centre provides family-focused services to the community by offering quality care on an individual developmental basis for each child.
