Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia – QLD
The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (Queensland Section) provides and supports primary health care in rural and remote areas and is the pre-eminent provider of aeromedical services throughout Queensland. The RFDS presently has 8 bases in Queensland (Cairns, Mt Isa, Charleville, Longreach, Rockhampton, Townsville, Bundaberg and Brisbane). These bases form a strategic network that facilitates the effective and efficient delivery of health care throughout the state. RFDS health services include: emergency evacuation and patient transfer, telephone consultations, primary health care clinics, the rural and remote women’s health program, collaborative practice, provision of medical chests and allied health composed of indigenous health, mental health and health promotion.
