Palliative Care Service – Fraser Coast
Fraser Coast Palliative Care Service provides health care to the patient who is experiencing a life threatening illness for which there is no cure. The service also provides support to the patients family during and after the course of the illness. Palliative Cares experienced and caring nursing staff provide coordinated palliative care, nursing visits, pain control and symptom management, as well as psychological support and education regarding the care of the patient. Palliative Cares nurses take the time to listen and talk over problems with patients and those close to them, to answer any questions they may have, give information and alleviate anxiety. Palliative Cares nurses liaise with Doctors, Specialists, Community Health and other Health Agencies as appropriate and are on call 24 hours 7 days as needed. The service is provided in Maryborough, Hervey Bay and surrounding rural and coastal townships from Burrum Heads to Bauple. Other services include trained personal care workers, bereavement and counselling services, equipment loan as well as an information and resource library with booklets, audio tapes and videos.
