LifeTec Queensland – Townsville
LifeTec (formerly the Independent Living Centre) is a non-government, non-profit community service. The service provides unbiased information and professional advice on equipment and resources for people living with a disability, injury or age related difficulties. LifeTec Queensland is a leading provider of information and specialist advice on an extensive range of assistive equipment technology and equipment that can help people improve their quality of life and remain independent. People of all ages, families and carers, self-help organisations, health professionals, teachers, architects, students and the general community can use LifeTecs services. LifeTecs occupational therapists and speech pathologists are able to give advice on aids and equipment for a range of different situations from self care, eating, drinking, communication, mobility, wheelchairs, seating, computer access, beds and recreation and leisure. People can phone the information and advisory service or visit LifeTecs equipment displays in Newmarket, Brisbane or Townsville. People living outside the Brisbane and Townsville metropolitan areas can access outreach services provided by LifeTec, which visits all areas of QLD. LifeTec also offers a range of professional development workshops for Health Professionals and Allied Health Staff.
