Alcohol and Drug Service – Brisbane


The Alcohol and Drug Service offers a wide range of treatment options. The goal is to minimise the negative impact of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs through the provision of the following services: BIALA ACUTE CARE SERVICE: 07 3238 4040 The clinic is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm seven days and provides walk-in assessment for detoxification, ambulatory detoxification services, crisis intervention and family support, brief interventions and consultation and liaison with watchhouse and Magistrates Court staff and Police diversion programs. BRISBANE HARM REDUCTION SERVICE: (07) 3238 4047 Clinical services are offered between 9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday with 24 hour provision of sterile injection equipment. Services include counselling and referral for treatment, vein care and safer injection advice, pre and post test counselling and blood screening for Hepatitis B, C, HIV and other sexually transmitted viruses, Hepatitis B immunisations and primary health care for injecting drug users. OPIOID TREATMENT CLINIC: (07) 3238 4080 Operates out of Roma Street Clinic and Melaleuca Clinic Chermside. Services offered at both clinics include assessment, referral and liaison, ongoing medical treatment and case management, range of pharmacotherapies including Methadone and Buprenorphine, individual or group counselling, health promotion, education and information. COMMUNITY TEAMS: (07) 3238 4000 Community Teams provide clinical services between 9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Services offered include assessment of alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems, individual and group counselling, counselling and support for families, early identification and intervention, referral and liaison, health promotion, information, education and community development, court and police diversion programs. YOUTH COMMUNITY TEAM: (The Hot House) (07) 3236 0871 The Hot House is located at Aspley and provides a service for young people under 25 years of age. The House offers counselling and support for young people, their families and significant others, education program for parents, school consultation and court diversion programs. INDIGENOUS COMMUNITY TEAM: (07) 3238 4000 The Indigenous Community Team caters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, offering confidential counselling and referral, community development and outreach, education and training and court diversion programs. ALCOHOL AND DRUG SERVICE LIBRARY: (07) 3238 4050 The Library is a collection of resources specialising in all aspects of substance use prevention and treatment. Facilities include photocopying, audio-visual material and viewing areas and database access. ALCOHOL & DRUG TRAINING & RESOURCE UNIT: (07) 3238 4060 The Training and Resource Unit provides quality training for workers across the state as well as Alcohol and Drug Service staff. This unit provides training and professional development, resource development, tailored alcohol and drug training for organisations, and ongoing seminars with video-conferencing facilities.
