Come and enjoy some great family fun in the Bundaberg CBD as the region welcome’s in the Year of the Dog at Bundaberg Regional Council’s Chinese New Year Celebrations.
From 3pm a wide variety of events will be unleashed on Bourbong Street featuring stunning performances by artists direct from Bundaberg’s sister city, Nanning, the colour and spectacle of Lion and Dragon dancing, imposing Taiko drumming, an illuminating lantern parade and a dazzling display of fireworks.
For the young pups, a Chinese Zodiac Animal Trail will operate between 3pm and 5.30pm, where children can partake in twelve activities with prizes available for those that finish. It’s entertainment that’s sure to provide howls of laughter.
Other highlights of this free community event include roving performers, an outdoor concert, markets and enticing food vendors. It would be a doggone shame to miss any of this!
There will be a host of events held in the week leading up to the main day of celebration including a free community movie on February 23 with the Chinese epic “The Great Wall” screened at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre. As a prelude to the movie, residents can indulge in A Taste of China from 6.15pm featuring Chinese nibbles, a beer and a short performance from Nanning Artists.
Asian Food Discovery Tours will unearth the best places in Bundaberg to source authentic ingredients for tasty Asian dishes, and follows up with a hands-on cooking class. Best of all, participants can then enjoy their handiwork! The tours, conducted by former head chef of P & O Resorts Tony Ching, will run from Wednesday, February 21 to Friday, February 23.
