Casting is underway for all fishing, camping and outdoors enthusiasts! Queensland’s largest freshwater fishing tournament is expecting a record number of entrants for the 2018 Boondooma Dam Family Yellowbelly Fishing Competition. Over 1000 anglers and their families are expected to set up camp lakeside and line up for a catch of the $40,000 pool of cash and prizes.
Now in its 28th year, the annual fishing and family-fun tournament at Lake Boondooma, 260kms north-west of Brisbane, offers a great weekend away, whether angling for a relaxing break in the great outdoors or a serious spot of competition fishing. Yellowbelly, Golden Perch, Silver Perch and Australian Bass will be in great supply after the annual restocking program of the beautiful 1,900-hectare dam.
Award-winning accommodation at the Lake Boondooma Caravan and Recreation Park, a hidden gem of the South Burnett Region, includes five self-contained cabins, a communal bunkhouse, powered sites, non-powered lakeside camping and modern amenities including kiosk and landscaped picnic and BBQ areas.
Entry costs for the tournament remain unchanged, but all competitors must have a current Stock Impoundment Permit. Adults: $20.00 Juniors: $5.00 Additional fees may apply
