The Advocacy and Support Centre (TASC) – Toowoomba Community Legal Services
TASC (formerly the Toowoomba Community Legal Service) was founded in 1992 as a small legal service for disadvantaged people. Today TASC is nationally known for its innovative delivery of legal, and advocacy services across the whole south-west of the state and mostrecently, into Ipswich and West Moreton. ***WHAT IS THE TOOWOOMBA COMMUNITY LEGAL SERVICE-*** The Toowoomba Community Legal Service (TCLS) provides free legal advice and information through its legal clinic. Some Court representation is carried out in special circumstances. Areas of law on which TCLS solicitors can advise are: – FAMILY LAW – Divorce, Parenting, Child Support and Domestic Violence. – CIVIL LAW – Debt, Traffic, Motor Vehicle accidents, Peace and Good Behaviour, Neighbourhood disputes and dividing fences. – CRIMINAL LAW – Initial advice and referral. Court support in exceptional circumstances only. TCLS Staff do not advise on matters which are personal injury, property and financial settlement, medical negligence, compensation, large commercial matters or conveyancing. Staff do not construct wills but may interpret simple wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney. ***TASC-MISSION*** – TASC upholds principles of social justice and social activitism in the delivery of all services. – TASC provides a range of collaborative social, legal and educational services to help people and communities in Queensland. – TASC identifies and addresses client needs in a responsive, proactive and preventative.
