Girl Guides – Oakey District
Brownie Guides (5-10.5 yrs) meet Saturdays at 2.00pm until 4.00pm at Guide Hut, 5 Creek Street, Oakey. Girl Guides (10.5-18 yrs) meet Thursday, 5.00 – 7.00pm at Guide Hut. Guiding is a world-wide organisation begun in 1910 under the Scouting ideals of Lord Robert Baden-Powell. Girls who join Guides wear the Guide uniform and try to do their best to become good citizens while having fun learning new skills – bushcraft, home skills, physical skills and social skills. Oakey Guides undertake several hikes and at least one camp per year. Girls are permitted to attend 3 meetings before making a commitment to join.
